PATRICK SONGY

I was born in Atlanta, GA, later moving to Tennessee Valley in my early childhood. My mother was a school teacher and father was a United States Marine that worked in information technology. Both of my parents had a deep regard for public service, and did rigorous volunteer work for my entire childhood instilling the same commitment to service in my brother and me. I honor that commitment in my practice of law as a Florida licensed attorney now serving injured victims throughout the state and working to keep the community safe from harm.

I moved to Florida in 1996 with my family and attended Jesuit High School in Tampa and graduated Magna Cum Laude, then attended the University of Florida in Gainesville and graduating Cum Laude with a degree in English. Upon completing my undergraduate degree, I attended law school at the Stetson College of Law in Gulfport, Florida. At Stetson College of Law, I focused on trial advocacy and evidence while serving as a certified legal intern for the Honorable Judge Pat Caddell in Pinellas County and for the Honorable Bob Dillinger as an Assistant Public Defender. I graduated law school in the top 25% of my class.

After completing law school, I began service as an Assistant Public Defender in the 12th Judicial Circuit, under the Honorable Elliot Metcalfe and later Larry Eger. During those years as an Assistant Public Defender, I tried dozens of jury trials and represented thousands of clients. I served as division chief for the misdemeanor division, as well its appellate counsel. I also helped the Honorable Judge Doug Henderson develop the DUI Court Program for Manatee County, providing structured treatment for offenders with documented substance abuse issues. During my time, I received extensive training regarding the litigation of drunk driving cases, as well as effects and treatment of substance abuse. I spent the last years of my service at the Public Defender’s office in the felony division, handling cases ranging from third degree felonies to mandatory life-imprisonment cases.

I currently live in Bradenton, FL with my wife, Monica, and son, Jack.
